Poas volcano walk

Made it to Poas today, saw a bunch of coatis and Nannou purchased earrings.  Super fun until the ride home when Cort was bugging Billie and I asked her to move 2 inches to the left "Fine!  I understand that you care about Pikachu more than you care about my face!!"   Never a dull moment.

for the birds

We are still here.  Went to Peace Lodge one time.  It was fun.

monkeys on the beach

Here's just what I pictured would be happening when we moved here.  Not so much in San Jose but I foresee weekly beach trips becoming part of our home-schooling routine.  (notice the monkey on the roof of the restaurant).

Goodbye to great friends

My kids have the nicest, most thoughtful, witty, creative, silly, and wonderful friends on the planet!
Today was the last day at park day before the bigs head off to camp.  Seems like just about 5 weeks ago we arrived back at park day and were greeted with hugs and smiles after 2 years away.

Sigh.

Tough Mudder Man

He did every obstacle...all 22 of them.
Electric shocks, ice bath and all that.  "that was fun."

officially summer

Summer is here, it's official...because my kids come home covered in mud at least 5 times a week!  Sloane just pops in for a snack...do I ask her to wash her hands before eating?  Only if we're sitting down at the table.  A little dirt is good for you.

kickin it old school

One day we went back to 1771.  Visiting Claude Moore Colonial farm on a weekday morning is so much fun.  Talking with the family who runs this working farm as if it actually is 1771- they work with garden tools in their bonnets and skirts.

Bigs help littles

One cute thing is that most mornings I strew around new library books and the big kids still can't resist picking them up.  They always invite the littles to listen to a story because they think of these books as being for the littles- because they are onto chapter books and have been for ages.  Traditional idea of a family breakfast?- gather round the table for eggs and bacon it is not, but it's still cute.  And sometimes there's rice milk available that no one really wants.
Billie is such a cutie, reading to Cort and his friend this morning while I sleep in.  Having a 12 year old around is really pretty cool.

Jack's new guitar

Check it out!  Jackson wants to learn guitar, being the indulgent-parent-products of our generation that we are, we went to craigslist and ran right out to buy him one on a saturday morning.  He's got hair over his eyes, he's reluctant to shower, he's totally uninterested in anything girls have to say and he's rather sensitive and moody.  Also, he had a role in a major motion picture.  Does it get any more heartbreaker than this?

Only if you add at guitar and a dimple to it.

and Jackson

Jackson's still here too.  He's somewhere around here, reading.  If he's not reading then he's outside or at Pokemon league.

roller girls, roller gramps

Skating is our favorite Saturday night event.  How awesome is it that Grampa Les goes with us each week too?!

Sloane & Cort signs of strength

The littles are growing up and accomplishing all kinds of things I never ever write about on our blog.  Sloane is a focused gymnast and Cort is wild about Tae Kwon Doe.  He's sad when it's Spring Break because that means there's no TKD classes.  The littles just broke boards and passed their yellow belt test like champs.  Sloane completed her second session of gymnastics.  Cort likes jumping in the foam pit but would rather pokemon battle Jackson than participate in gymnastics class himself.
