There are some really lovely things in Bulgaria. It's not always so obvious. Actually you're just standing on rubble and there's some flimsy wire fencing keeping you inches away from death. But if you look around, at the landscape and the sky and the goats and sip your nescafe...you might just notice how nice it is.

Egret Na Gladna
Billie is turning ELEVEN this week. She's still the littlest of her friends- but she's gutsy. We all went to see the violent film on the date of it's release in Sofia, The Hunger Games. Here are the 5 girls rocking their Katnissness.
And she made her own brilliant pinata of President Snows' head. Note: It is not really a good idea to give Cort a bat...also not a good idea to blindfold him...certainly not smart to do both at the same time. Billie is amazing, as usual and much more than I ever could have hoped she would become at 11 years old. When she was younger I never could have dreamed that she would turn out to be as funny, smart, kind, selfish, and helpful as she is now. Eleven years from now she'll be 22 and I can't even begin to think about all that she'll have accomplished by then!

Finally Spring
We can finally head outside now without boots on. Spring came suddenly, two days after our last snowfall. The kids are in their hammocks before I'm awake in the morning. Jackson is reading Delatora to the littles recently.
